Positive Partnerships

"If we are together, nothing is impossible." Winston Churchill

You will know, simply by our name, that we are a Lutheran and, therefore, a Christian College.

For those of you unfamiliar with how a Christian foundation and ethos might look and feel in a school environment, I hope you see it clearly in the way we value your child.

The first place relationships begin is between staff and students, who are our priority and the reason why people are drawn to work and serve at Encounter. Our hope and intention is to build strong, meaningful and honest relationships with students so they can become their very best in all aspects of life.

Along with student relationships, we recognise that working in close partnership with parents and carers ultimately improves student wellbeing and outcomes, which lie at the heart of what our College and your family are trying to achieve.

In addition to the invaluable relationships between students, staff and families, at Encounter we believe that parents and carers should have a clear window into their child’s school.

At Encounter, we believe that teaching and learning should be transparent and well understood: a journey that is founded on honesty, growth and a commitment to improving.

Families are invited into the everyday school environment through reading groups, school camps, excursions and other class-based or whole-school activities. These are opportunities for parents and carers to appreciate the joys of learning and growing together. And while there is no obligation, if you want to be involved, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.

Parents and carers are invited to contribute their time, expertise and compassion to students who may be in need of extra tuition, time or company in a one-on-one situation. This program highlights the depth of our community, but also the way in which we cater for our students beyond the classroom environment.

At Encounter, all people connected to our community are viewed as crucial links in strengthening the chain of student learning and wellbeing. It is the expertise, passion and commitment of these people that enhances our College community.

We believe that fostering strong partnerships with the parents, carers and friends of our College will create lasting memories in the Encounter story...
