Principal's Message

From the Principal

Whilst our journey began in 2001 with a school of just over 70 students, we are now embarking on an exciting new chapter in 2017 with over 500 enrolments comprising of a thriving Early Learning Centre, Junior School and Middle & Senior School. 2016 saw the College host our first group of Year 12 students with 100% SACE completion, and we look forward to seeing these emerging young adults following their career paths whether that be University, apprenticeships or straight into the workforce.
As our student body grows, our facilities have also continued to expand, giving us the ability to offer brand new “state of the art” learning spaces and opportunities for our students. “The Nest” is a space that caters for the whole College community, allowing us to engage with technology in new ways, as well as building a greater sense of collaboration amongst staff and students that is already a hallmark of Encounter. This facility also celebrates the lighter side of school life, incorporating a slippery dip that caters for children and adults who enjoy a smile as they learn.
At the beginning of 2016 we completed our Food Technology Centre, with its own in-house café, GPS. This area is outfitted with the most up-to-date appliances and work spaces offering our Middle and Senior Students the ability to embark on studies within the increasingly popular Hospitality Industry.
Our most recent addition is an exciting  Design & Technology Centre, which now provides our students with amazing opportunities within this faculty including Woodwork, CAD Design and 3D Printing.
Our Elite Basketball Development Program is unique to the Fleurieu Peninsula and has been established to assist talented young basketball players. This year we are excited to have introduced our Netball SA endorsed Elite Netball Program that can encompass students from Years 5 - 12. We are confident that both Programs will provide participants with the ability to achieve at the highest level of performance in their sport, whilst also helping to develop their educational, emotional and social wellbeing.
We are proudly building on our strong foundations, which are grounded in the message of God’s love, the value of each unique child and the strength and sincerity of our community.
Please contact the College to make a time to meet with me. I look forward to personally speaking with you about how we can best support your child whilst offering a vibrant and fresh approach to learning.
My hope is that your child’s personal and precious story will grow and be nurtured as part of the Encounter story.
