SPECIALIST DANCE PROGRAM YEAR 7 - 12

The Specialist Dance Program is based on a training schedule supporting a whole year development model. As there is no off-season in Dance, physical conditioning is incorporated into all technique lessons. Students study contemporary, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and funk techniques, composition, choreography, performance, and critical analysis.
Through the analysis of dance theatre performance students learn about the choreography of local and international dance artists. Students also develop creative, technical and physical understanding and an appreciation of dance as an art form. They have the opportunity to explore a range of global dance traditions,
influences, and perspectives. The focus capabilities for this program are communication, citizenship, and learning.

The Specialist Dance Program consists of four areas of study:

  • Technique
  • Composition
  • Performance or Presentation
  • Analytical Response

The Specialist Dance Program will be given the opportunity to represent the school in both performances and competitions held locally.

Participation in this program is by invitation only.
