Open House

Families and friends from across the South Coast are invited to come along to a very special OPEN HOUSE at Encounter Lutheran College on Wednesday 25 September to view our brand-new early learning centre, LIGHTHOUSE EARLY LEARNING, in addition to our new Middle & Senior School facility, the WILDERNESS CENTRE. Whether you are curious just to have a look at these amazing new facilities, or looking at Encounter Lutheran College for your child, we’d love to welcome you along to this very special evening as we open our doors to the community.

PROGRAM

  • 4.30PM – Take a self-guided tour through LIGHTHOUSE EARLY LEARNING, Encounter’s brand new purpose-build early learning centre. Staff will be available to answer questions as you view the different areas of the facility. An afternoon tea will also be available.
  • 4.45PM – Welcome and Official Opening of Lighthouse Early Learning
  • 5.25PM – A shuttle bus will be available to the Wilderness Centre throughout the afternoon
  • 5.30PM – Take a self-guided tour through the WILDERNESS CENTRE located on Wurar Ruwi (Block 69).  Staff will be available to explain each of the areas as you make your way through this new facility. A range of activities and experiments will be on display in each of the learning spaces.
  • 5.45PM – Official Opening of the WILDERNESS CENTRE.
  • 6.00PM – Conclusion of the Lighthouse Early Learning Open House
  • 6.25PM – Shuttle Bus returns to the main College car park
  • 6.30PM – Conclusion of the Wilderness Centre Open House

LIGHTHOUSE EARLY LEARNING

Over the past 12 months, those driving past the front of the College would have seen our new ‘Brighton’ beach hut designs, now painted on the Adelaide Road facade of Lighthouse Early Learning. Along with the coloured designs paying homage to our College colours, there are a twin of coastal huts (a sunset hue and a blue sky with seagulls) and the white and red of a lighthouse.

We’re excited that Lighthouse Early Learning has now opened to our littlest people of Encounter. The new Centre with its own bespoke nature playground, along with modern and secure facilities now doubles our previous capacity, catering for fifty-five 3½ and 4-year-olds as they prepare for their longer-term education at Encounter.

WILDERNESS CENTRE

Stage 11 at Encounter Lutheran College, a learning space for our Middle & Senior School learners opened in January and has been given the name, the Wilderness Centre. While this space has been designed for our learners in Years 7-9, it will also serve as a transition space from Junior to Middle School, meaning our current Year 5 students will be enjoying this space in the second half of this year.

Within this Centre is a dedicated hospitality space, science laboratory, visual arts studio and a digital technologies classroom. The design of the entire Centre enables teachers and students to have the flexibility to learn in discreet spaces, or flow from one area to another. Given this entire Centre is located in Wurar Ruwi (Block 69), the ability for learning to readily extend outdoors is also an exciting prospect.
