From the Principal

A message from our incoming Principal, Shane Jurecky

I am honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading Encounter Lutheran College as your newly appointed Principal, commencing in Term 3 2026.

Encounter has been uniquely shaped by the dedication and faith of so many — a community that clearly lives its values, supports one another, and places the wellbeing and growth of every person at its heart.

This lasting legacy has been created under the exceptional leadership of Kelvin Grivell. His vision over the past 14 years has nurtured a place of authentic faith and exceptional learning where everyone has an opportunity to thrive, connect and belong. 

I look forward to continuing to build on this firm foundation through a collaborative, transitional approach with Kelvin and his team over the coming months. I know I will be supported and mentored by the amazing staff who understand what it means to be part of Encounter’s culture. 

My wife, Sarah, and I are thrilled about returning to our home state after 20 years working around Australia in Lutheran Education, to be surrounded by family and friends once again. We are also excited about the prospects of connecting with the wider Fleurieu community and the amazing things Victor Harbor and its surrounds have to offer. It truly is a stunning place to live and work.

In closing, as we embark on this journey together, I am looking forward to seeing how I can use my own strengths and experience to serve Encounter and, more importantly, what we will create together.
