Principal’s Message

Welcome to Encounter, where our College family enjoys an innovative learning environment and an inviting sense of community.

An Early Learning to Year 12 campus, Encounter was established in 2001 and is fortunate to benefit from a vibrant, pioneering spirit that enables us to meet change and challenge with enthusiasm.

Being a school of the Lutheran Church, our faith inspires us to care, to lead learning with passion and to strive above and beyond for your child and their welfare.

We are conscious of the changing nature of education and seek to provide a truly unique pathway for each child, as well as a perspective that will allow them to embrace their future with an open heart and mind to others and their world.

That’s our commitment to you as families of Encounter, as we seek to be the best we can be, while striving to offer the same for your child.

After eight years of experiencing significant growth we are now almost at capacity and have all the facilities to deliver a contemporary and dynamic education. What a blessing!

Many Fleurieu families would also be aware of our recent acquisition of 69 acres adjoining our College site. There are endless exciting opportunities that await us in terms of nature play, valuing the environment, building student resilience and simply exposing our young people to the great outdoors as part of their everyday learning. This will be a gift to all connected with Encounter for generations to come.

As I reflect on the foundations of Encounter originally formed in the closing years of last century, I am simply quite thankful for those people who were so committed to Encounter becoming what it is today. I have been in the privileged position of being both a founding staff member and now the Principal of Encounter, and although the words of ‘Looks like school, feels like home’ were not coined in those first days, their sentiment has certainly resonated within our community throughout two decades.

I invite you to spend time exploring the various elements of our website as you become more familiar with who we are and how we might support your family in the future. I also invite you to make a time to meet with me so you can explore how your child might thrive, connect and belong at Encounter.
