Hi my name is Emily Palmer.

After relief teaching for the past two years at Encounter I am pleased to be teaching Middle School Food Technology and English this year.

I spent most of my young life in Adelaide and after completing a Bachelor of Archaeology worked within the public sector. I then retrained in TESOL, teaching English language to migrants and refugees as well as overseas students. In need of a change of scenery my husband, two daughters and I moved to Whyalla for 2 years and then spectacular remote Ceduna for over 4 years. In Ceduna I taught Middle School Humanities, English and Positive Education at Crossways Lutheran School.

We moved to Port Elliot in 2018 and it has been an absolute joy to connect with the local community, with both my daughters attending Encounter and participating in local sports and activities.

I truly value the supportive environment of Encounter and have enjoyed connecting with students and their families. I look forward to
working alongside our young people and encouraging in them a love of learning in the challenging year ahead.

You can find me and the Food Tech students cooking up a storm in the kitchen!
