I think I blinked and week one is almost gone. The students and staff have been really great and supportive as I settle in to life at Encounter.
I have worked in an amazing range of positions so come to Encounter with a range of real life experiences including adult education in the workplace which is sometimes more challenging than the school environment.
I graduated in 2000 and then decided to study further an achieve another degree in 2009, also in education. I have taught in a variety of schools and contexts from TRT to short term contracts, from Mawson Lakes to McLaren Vale and now here on the beautiful South Coast. I have taught Science, Biology, Mathematics and Music.
I have my own business, with twelve employees, which has been running for about nine years. In the last three years the bug to go back teaching has grown as the requirements of building the business have diminished. My wife and four children have encouraged me to return to the field of education recognising my love for seeing success and growth of knowledge in students.
In my spare time I enjoy sea kayaking and getting back to the Riverland. I also work with the Australian Airforce Cadets at 617 squadron (Unley) as their Executive Officer and Unit Safety Coordinator.
