Hi, I’m Rachel Grant.
I will be working in Student Support with the Year 9/10 cohort this year and coaching in the Specialist Basketball Program.
I grew up in South Australia, in a small town called Narrung (near Lake Alexandrina and the Coorong) but completed my International Baccalaureate at Woodcroft College.
I moved to Canberra for University and my passion for sport led me to a Bachelor of Communications in Sports Media. I was lucky to work in
communications for Touch Football Australia and the Department of Agriculture but after becoming a mum (my husband and I have 3 awesome but loud boys) I took on a role at Canberra Girls Grammar School, running their basketball program for almost 10 years.
We moved to Encounter Bay in 2018 and I’ve shifted into student support work through Port Elliot Primary School and Kindergarten. I love working with students of all ages, both in the classroom and on the court, to see things that appear complex become simple and to understand their true value as people.
Encounter staff and students have made me feel incredibly welcomed and it’s such a privilege to be working in a community that so clearly reflects the love of Christ.
