Encounter was thrilled to be hosting schools from the Southern Fleurieu SAPSASA Zone for the Cross Country this year and opening our backyard to students across the region for this annual event. Students from Year 4 – 7 participated in their age groups to complete in the 2km (10 years olds) or 3km (11, 12 and 13 year olds) course. We were very blessed with fine conditions and it was awesome to see so many students out on the block throughout the day, competing and supporting our team. Congratulations to Hudson Egan (Year 5)(first – 10 year old boys), Charlie Ellis (Year 5)(first – 11 year old boys), Kate Rogers (Year 5)(second – 11 year old girls), Grace Rogers (Year 7)(first – 13 year old girls) and Eli White (Year 7)(first – 13 year old boys) for their outstanding commitment to cross country running. In addition to these medal winners we would like to acknowledge the following students that have been selected to compete at Oakbank in a few weeks – Chase Ashcroft (Year 5), Keanu Green (Year 5) and Sophie Scotton (Year 4). Encounter came second overall in the championships which was a testament to all the students efforts throughout the day.
A special thank you to the PE and Ground Staff on preparing the courses on the Block and the Middle and Senior School Students who volunteered as race officials and course marshals. We look forward to our Encounter College Cross Country next Friday 4th June.
