The opportunity to learn, grow and thrive
At Encounter Lutheran College, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. The Inclusive Learning team works with students, families, and staff to provide the support and adjustments needed to access the same curriculum as their peers. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where all students can learn, grow, and thrive.
Individualised Support and Collaboration
The Inclusive Learning Coordinator develops and implements individualised supports in collaboration with students, families, teachers, and health professionals. These supports help students engage meaningfully with their learning and are tailored to meet individual needs. The Inclusive Learning Coordinator also works closely with the Wellbeing team to ensure students receive holistic support throughout their schooling.
Staff are supported with strategies and resources to meet a wide range of learning needs, including opportunities to extend students who require additional challenge.
The Inclusive Learning Coordinator can also assist families in seeking further assessment or advice from allied health professionals when needed to inform appropriate learning adjustments.
Co-Educators in the Classroom
Co-Educators are a valued part of the Inclusive Learning team and work across all classes from Junior to Senior School. They assist students in the classroom, support with individualised or small group intervention where necessary, and collaborate with teaching staff to help meet students' learning needs. Co-Educators support all students, not only those with formal plans, and play an important role in identifying areas where additional help may be required.
Transition Support
The Inclusive Learning team plans and runs transition programs to support students as they move through different stages of schooling—from Junior to Middle, and Middle to Senior School. These programs help students adjust to new expectations, environments, and routines, ensuring smoother transitions and building confidence.
Student Support and Study Skills (Middle & Senior School)
In Middle and Senior School, the Inclusive Learning team supports students with:
- Planning and completing schoolwork
- Creating personalised study plans
- Using templates to assist with writing tasks
- Communicating effectively with teachers
We also offer hands-on, real-world learning experiences, such as volunteering in the College's GPS Café. These opportunities build practical life skills and confidence beyond the classroom.
Data and Progress Monitoring
The Inclusive Learning team manages NAPLAN and other standardised testing across the school. This data is used to monitor student progress, identify gaps in learning, and inform teaching strategies. Keeping student learning data up to date is a key part of ensuring appropriate and timely support.
Contact and Further Support
If you have concerns about your child’s learning or would like more information about the support available, please contact the Inclusive Learning Coordinator or the Wellbeing team. We value working in partnership with families to help every student reach their full potential.
