Year 9/10 SSSA Cricket Team Celebrates Huge Month of Success
By Troy Wegener | Head of Sport
The Year 9/10 SSSA Cricket team has enjoyed an outstanding month of interschool sport, delivering two impressive victories and showcasing skill, teamwork, and resilience on the regional stage.
The team set the tone early with a strong performance against Victor Harbor at Port Elliot. Playing at home, the students demonstrated great composure and discipline, controlling the match and securing a well-earned win. It was a result built on solid fundamentals, clear communication, and a collective commitment to the team plan.
Building on that momentum, the squad carried their confidence into round 2 of the SSSA T20 Statewide Knockout Cricket Competition, where they faced a tough Eastern Fleurieu side. Batting with intent the team posted an impressive total of 166 runs: a standout effort in the T20 format. Strong partnerships, smart shot selection, and positive running between the wickets highlighted the innings and put Eastern Fleurieu under immediate pressure.
The bowlers and fielders then rose to the challenge, maintaining intensity and energy from the first delivery. Disciplined bowling and excellent teamwork ensured the opposition was kept in check, completing a memorable victory.
These results mark a hugely successful month for the Year 9/10 SSSA team, and College cricket. Recent result reflects the hard work put in by players both at training and on match day. The team’s performances have not only delivered wins, but also demonstrated sportsmanship, leadership, and a passion for representing their school with pride.
Congratulations to all players involved on a fantastic series of performances, and a big thank you to staff, Josh Andrewartha, and parents who helped make this achievement possible. Good luck to the group as they advance to the State Final in Term 4.
