On Thursday 15 May, our Encounter Open Boys and Girls teams headed to Morphett Vale for a Day Carnival against Victor Harbor, Investigator, Reynella East, Yankalilla, Wirreanda and Hallet Cove.

With two Division 1 Boys teams, we secured an all-Encounter grand final, with both teams going undefeated through the Pool matches. Despite being lower on numbers (Year 9s on camp and injuries/illness), both teams showed discipline, grit and team work to support each other throughout the day. With only 1 sub available across the two teams, the boys had plenty of time on court to work on the concepts currently being worked on at training.

Our Division 1 Girls were also missing Year 9s, 11s and 12s (camp, injuries and unavailability), so their performance was extremely exciting. As a team of Year 8s and 10s, competing against Year 11s and 12s, the girls also did not lose a game and finished 2nd for the day, with their results including a come-from-behind draw against the much more experienced Victor Harbor High team. Their encouragement of each other and their team work was impressive to watch.
