Foundation Schultüte Ceremony
By Julian Schubert | Marketing & Communications Manager
One of the most cherished traditions at Encounter was celebrated at our 2026 Opening Shine, as our Foundation students were welcomed with the presentation of their very own Schultüte.
Before processing through a guard of honour formed by our Year 12 Class of 2026 students, each Foundation child was presented with a beautifully decorated Schultüte — a symbolic and joyful way to mark the beginning of their learning journey. This special moment reflected both excitement and reassurance, as our youngest learners were welcomed by the wider College community.
The Schultüte, or “school cone”, is a traditional German custom given to children on their first day of school. Shaped like a large cone and filled with small gifts, treats and school supplies, it is designed to make this milestone day a little sweeter and help ease first-day nerves. At Encounter, this tradition beautifully captures our commitment to creating meaningful, memorable beginnings for our students.
It was a wonderful celebration, made even more special by having our entire College community together — from our newest learners to our graduating seniors — sharing in this moment of welcome, connection and tradition.
