Junior School Musical Brings Dragons to Life in the Kondole

Over two magical days, the Encounter community was transported into a world of adventure, humour and dragon-sized mischief as our Junior School students presented Imagine a Dragon in the Kondole, which was transformed into a vibrant theatre space for this special production.
More than 500 audience members attended the three performances across Wednesday and Thursday, enjoying a production that showcased the incredible talents of 121 students from Years 1–6, both on stage and behind the scenes. From lead actors and chorus members to stage crew, lighting, sound and promotions, students embraced every aspect of theatre-making with enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork.
Filled with lively songs, memorable characters and plenty of laughter, Imagine a Dragon tells the story of a quiet village transformed by rumours of a nearby dragon. As adventurers arrive seeking glory, audiences were treated to a heartwarming tale of honesty, friendship and making things right.
The transformation of the Kondole into a theatre created a truly immersive experience for families and guests, with students performing to enthusiastic audiences across all three shows. The joy, confidence and dedication displayed by our performers reflected the many hours of rehearsal and preparation that took place in the lead-up to opening night.
Productions of this scale are only possible through the commitment and generosity of many members of our College community. Special thanks go to Kym Koop, Production Manager and Director, alongside Directors Deeon Toogood and Josh Koop, whose vision, creativity and leadership brought this production to life. Their dedication inspired students to grow in confidence, take creative risks and deliver outstanding performances.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the many staff, parent helpers and volunteers who contributed through choreography, costumes, set and props creation, backstage support, ticketing, front of house operations, photography, facilities and countless other roles. Your collective efforts ensured the production was a memorable experience for all involved.
Congratulations to every student who took part in Imagine a Dragon. Your hard work, courage and teamwork shone brightly on stage and behind the scenes, creating lasting memories for our College community and demonstrating the power of the arts to inspire creativity, connection and belonging.
