Encounter Lutheran College welcomed around 50 Old Scholars back to campus on Friday evening for a special ELCOS reunion, celebrating the Classes of 2016, 2021 and 2025.

There was a wonderful atmosphere on campus as Old Scholars reconnected with former classmates, reminisced about their school days and celebrated the enduring connections they made at Encounter.

The evening brought together three cohorts for very different milestones: the Class of 2016 for their 10 Year Reunion, the Class of 2021 for their 5 Year Reunion, and the Class of 2025 for their very first reunion - just one year after graduating.

On a beautiful, balmy spring evening, Old Scholars enjoyed a relaxed BBQ and refreshments in the Staff Lounge Courtyard, with a number of former and current staff also joining the celebrations. It was particularly special for our Old Scholars to catch up with Mr Grivell and to meet our new Principal, Mr Shane Jurecky.

A trip down memory lane

For many, a highlight of the evening was the opportunity to tour the Middle & Senior School with Jon Grear and Mel O’Donnell.

The tour provided a fascinating opportunity to see how much the College has changed, with visits to the new Year 7 & 8 classrooms, Plaza and the Year 12 area. For members of our founding Class of 2016, in particular, the contrast was striking - facilities that could only have been imagined during their time at Encounter are now part of the College landscape.

The GPS Café was also a popular stop, prompting plenty of memories and some good-natured discussion about whether the prices were actually cheaper now than they were in their school days!

Back in the Staff Lounge, a slideshow of photographs from years gone by provided another opportunity to reminisce, with plenty of smiles, stories and familiar faces sparking conversations throughout the evening.

It was a wonderful reminder that while much has changed at Encounter over the years, the friendships and connections formed here continue well beyond graduation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 ELCOS Reunion and helped make it such a memorable evening.

Next year we look forward to welcoming the Classes of 2017, 2022 and 2026 for their reunions in 2027.

Old Scholars are encouraged to stay connected with Encounter and ensure their contact details are up to date by visiting the ELCOS webpage at the link below.
