Year 6 Exhibition Celebration Night: Communication, Collaboration and Action

What an incredible afternoon and evening as we celebrated the learning, passion and action of our Year 6 students through their International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition.

More than 170 family members and members of our wider College community joined us to hear students share their inquiries into issues that matter to them, including deforestation, the benefits of sport, “brain rot”, disability and inclusion, and many more.

The Exhibition is the culmination of students’ learning throughout their PYP journey. While the final presentations are an important part of the process, the true value of the Exhibition lies in the skills, dispositions and understandings students develop along the way.

Communication was one of the key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills on display. Throughout their inquiries, students conducted extensive research using both primary sources, such as interviews, surveys and conversations with experts, and secondary sources, including books, websites and articles. They then used critical thinking to analyse, evaluate and synthesise information from multiple perspectives, developing a deeper understanding of their chosen issues.

Students also worked collaboratively, listening to one another, negotiating ideas, giving and receiving feedback and working through challenges together. They learned to communicate their ideas purposefully with a wide range of audiences and to share their learning with confidence.

On Exhibition Night, these skills came to life through thoughtful displays, engaging presentations and meaningful conversations with visitors. Our students spoke passionately about issues they care about and, importantly, considered how they could take meaningful action.

The Exhibition is far more than a final project. It is a celebration of students becoming confident communicators, collaborative team members, thoughtful researchers and action-oriented learners. It reflects the growth and maturity they have developed throughout their PYP experience.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, curiosity and passion they have demonstrated throughout their Exhibition journey, and grateful to our families, mentors and wider College community for supporting and celebrating their learning.
