We don’t have a faith; can our children still attend Encounter?
Absolutely! Encounter Lutheran College simply asks that if you are seeking to enrol your child at Encounter, you willingly support the Lutheran ethos, Christian education and values of the College. It is an expectation that all students attend Christian worship through its weekly Shine services, as well as daily class devotions. We also present a Christian Studies curriculum that provides an inclusive Christian worldview to students, regardless of their faith background. Our expectation is not for these experiences to necessarily be faith-forming, but we ask students and families to attend and support these activities with an open mind, respect and courtesy. What do Lutherans believe?
In the words of the classic Lutheran summary of faith, we believe that we are saved 'by grace, for Christ's sake, through faith'. In other words, there is nothing we can do to earn God's favour or to gain eternal life. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has won all this and more for us. We also believe that only the Bible is the source of inspiration and teaching. Learn more
Are all of your teachers Christian?

Do students sit an entry test or interview?
No, we do not ask new students to sit an entry test. All students who are enrolled at the College are, however, interviewed, which simply gives you an opportunity to meet us, and for us to get to know you and your child. It also provides an opportunity for families to highlight and celebrate any strengths and to also be open about any wellbeing, medical or behavioural needs that we may need to support. Learn more

How many students attend Encounter?
Encounter considers itself to be an ideal size to uphold our strong sense of community and connection. We know the names of each student and greet them each morning as they arrive. We also know who parents are and ensure we are readily available to discuss any matters of importance. Although we are small enough to care for each child, we are also large enough to have the facilities, staffing, subject offerings and other resources to ensure students have access to rich curriculum offerings. We currently have two classes of each year level from Foundation to Year 6, and three classes of each Year level from Years 7-12.
Encounter Lutheran College acknowledges the Ramindjeri people of the Ngarrindjeri Country as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work and learn. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
