Our Christian Community

At Encounter Lutheran College, our Christian faith is at the heart of who we are and all that we do. We are a Christ-centred community that values relationships, connection, and spiritual growth.

Through worship, prayer, service, and partnership with local churches, we strive to create a space where students, families, and staff feel nurtured in both heart and faith. Whether you’re new to Christian life or have been part of a faith community for years, you are welcome here.

Encounter Prayer Breakfasts

Each term, we warmly invite parents, friends, and supporters of Encounter to join us for our Prayer Breakfasts — informal gatherings that create space for reflection, connection, and prayer. These events are a chance to come together as a Christian community and pray for our students, staff, and annual College theme.

Held in the Staff Lounge (or occasionally at the  Encounter Prayer Labyrinth), these mornings offer a meaningful start to the day over light refreshments and shared prayer. Newcomers are always welcome.

Victor Harbor Lutheran Church

Encounter Lutheran College is blessed to share a rich and enduring partnership with Victor Harbor Lutheran Church — a relationship built on shared faith and a vision for Christ-centred education.

Even before the College officially opened its doors in 2001, the Church played a pivotal role in helping bring the school to life, alongside other local Christian communities. Their support and vision helped shape the spiritually nurturing environment Encounter is known for today.

Our connection remains strong, with Junior School students visiting the Church each term for “Shine” celebrations — times of worship, storytelling, and student-led reflection. These cherished gatherings honour the tradition of community worship that began in the early days when students would walk to the church weekly.

Victor Harbor Lutheran Church continues to be an active presence in the local area, offering worship services, Bible study, and outreach opportunities for people of all ages.

We are deeply thankful for the ongoing relationship between Encounter and Victor Harbour Lutheran Church — a partnership that continues to shape lives with purpose and faith.

Services are held at 9.30am every Sunday morning at the Lutheran Church Centre, 21a Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor.

Victor Harbor Messy Church

Messy Church is a creative and engaging faith experience held once per term from 3.30pm-5.30pm at the Lutheran Church Centre in Victor Harbor. Open to families from all over the South Coast, Messy Church is designed to be inclusive, fun, and welcoming — especially for those who may not have attended church before.

Each gathering includes hands-on activities based on a biblical theme, ranging from craft and cooking to games and nature play. This is followed by a short time of worship with stories, songs, and prayer, and ends with a shared family meal lovingly prepared by volunteers.

Messy Church is perfect for families looking to enjoy meaningful time together, meet new people, and explore faith in a relaxed and joyful setting. Everyone is welcome — come as you are!

Supporting Christian Churches

Our Encounter community is wonderfully diverse, with families connected to a wide variety of Christian churches across the South Coast. We celebrate and support this diversity and encourage families to connect with their local church community.
