Book Week 2026 was a wonderful celebration of stories, imagination and a love of reading across Encounter Lutheran College, with students and staff from Early Learning through to Year 12 embracing this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories.

The celebrations began with our youngest students and Junior School students arriving at school dressed as their favourite book characters. From superheroes and storybook favourites to creative and colourful interpretations, the College was filled with excitement and imagination from the moment students arrived.

Junior School students then gathered for a special Book Week Shine, led by our Year 4 students, before coming together for a Book Week Assembly. It was a joyful celebration of books and storytelling, with plenty of fantastic costumes, stories and smiles along the way.

Our Middle & Senior School students also embraced the opportunity to bring their favourite stories to life. Following Middle & Senior School Shine and Assembly, students took part in a Book Week Parade, showcasing an incredible array of costumes and creative interpretations of characters from the pages of their favourite books. We were thrilled to see so many students participate and embrace the spirit of the day.

Of course, Book Week at Encounter wouldn’t be complete without our staff getting involved! In what has become a much-loved College tradition, every member of our staff team arrived dressed in costume.

The entire staff team gathered on the oval first thing in the morning for a special Book Week photo shoot, with an impressive collection of characters coming together for the occasion. And rather than changing back into regular work clothes afterwards, our staff decided to stay in costume for the entire day. It’s fair to say they may have enjoyed Book Week a little too much!

One of the things we love most about Book Week is the way our whole College community embraces the celebration. From our youngest learners through to our Year 12 students, and across our entire staff team, Book Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, storytelling and imagination together.

A huge thank you to our families for supporting students with their costumes and to our staff for once again getting right behind the celebrations. What a wonderful Symphony of Stories it was!
