Jamieson Ultra 2026 | How far can you run in 6 hours?

What do you get when you combine 119 determined runners, six hours of continuous running, a 2 km loop course, and four particularly enthusiastic magpies?

The answer: another unforgettable Jamieson Ultra at Encounter Lutheran College!

From the first lap to the final sprint, runners embraced the challenge “there’s more in you than you think” on the Wurar Ruwi course, showing grit, perseverance, and plenty of school spirit. For six hours, the track was alive with students encouraging one another, chasing personal bests, and proving that sometimes the biggest achievements come one lap at a time.

Together, runners covered a staggering 2,419 kilometres. That's more than 1,200 laps of the 2 km course and a distance that would take you to Melbourne and back nearly twice. With Caleb Hood setting an impressive 55 km distance… a new school record.

Every lap mattered. Whether participants completed a few laps or ran for hours, each runner contributed to an incredible team achievement that reflected the determination and resilience of the Encounter community.

More Than Just Running

Of course, no outdoor event would be complete without some local wildlife involvement. The Jamieson Ultra featured four swooping magpies, who appeared determined to test runners' speed, agility, and awareness. While no official times were recorded for the magpies, they certainly made their presence felt and added an extra level of excitement to the course.

While the numbers are impressive, the real success of the Jamieson Ultra was the atmosphere created by students, staff, families, and volunteers. Encouragement echoed around every corner of the course as runners supported one another and celebrated every achievement, big or small. A massive thanks to Fleurieu Run Tribe for their on-course support; their continued community involvement with this event makes a significant difference… what awesome people! Special thanks to Leanne Murdoch from Victor Feet First, who generously offered on-site podiatry support, blister care and taping to keep our runners moving.

The event was a fantastic reminder that endurance is about more than distance. It's about persistence, community, courage, and the willingness to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 2026 Jamieson Ultra. Together, you made it a day to remember and showed exactly what the Encounter Lutheran College community is all about.
